Legacy Laceworks is a one-person studio — every piece that leaves here has passed through my hands alone, on a bobbin lace pillow or a crochet hook, over hours rather than minutes.

I've been working with fibre for more than 25 years, and lace and crochet remain the two crafts I keep coming back to. Bobbin lace in particular is slow, exacting work — a single bookmark can take 11–12 hours, with dozens of threads and pins moving in a very specific sequence. There's no shortcut through it, and that's part of what I love about it. It's closer to following a musical score than to a repeat you can feel your way through.

I work with quality Australian yarns, and increasingly with small, independent dyers — hand-dyed in small batches, with the kind of variation and character you don't get from a commercial line. It means more patience between choosing a colour and casting on, but the result is always worth the wait.

Every piece is made to be used and loved, not just looked at — a bookmark that sees a book, a shawl that gets worn, a blanket that gets wrapped around someone.
